What is Two-Step Verification?
Two-step verification is an additional layer of protection for your account.
Instead of just asking for your username (email) and password, two-step verification requires a second form of verification when you log in to ensure that it is really you.
Two-step verification reduces the likelihood of a successful cyberattack, because even if attackers know your password, they don't have the second piece of evidence.
Set Up Two-Step Verification as an Individual User
As an individual user, you can enable two-step verification in your account at any time.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Go to My Account → Security.
In the ‘Two-step verification’ section, click ‘Set up now’.
You will be asked which method you would like to use:
Option 1: SMS authentication (code sent to your mobile phone via SMS)
Option 2: Google Authenticator app (code generated by an app)
Option 1: Setup via SMS (recommended for simplicity)
Select ‘Mobile phone number (via SMS)’.
Enter your mobile phone number and click ‘Continue’. (The number must be able to receive SMS messages.)
Enter the confirmation code you received via SMS.
Click ‘Continue’ to complete the setup.
Option 2: Setup via Google Authenticator app
Select ‘Google Authenticator app’.
Install the ‘Google Authenticator app’ on your smartphone.
Open the app and scan the QR code displayed. Alternatively, you can manually enter the code below the QR code into the app.
Then enter the dynamically generated 6-digit code displayed by the Google Authenticator app into Cosuno.
Click ‘Continue’ to complete the setup.
After setup, you will need to verify your identity with the code from the SMS or app in addition to your password each time you log in.
For Administrators: Enforce Two-Step Verification
To increase security for the entire company, administrators can make two-step verification mandatory for all users.
Under “My Company”, navigate to the “2-factor authentication” section.
Enable the option ‘Require users to set up 2-step verification when signing in’.
Once you confirm the activation, 2FA becomes mandatory for all users in this company.
All users who have not yet set up two-step verification will receive an email notification.
These users must set up two-step verification the next time they log in.
Users who are already logged in will be logged out after 24 hours if they have not set up two-step verification by then.
